Our Geography PhD graduate Dr. Ahmet Öztürk received the second prize in the 2024 "Best Doctoral Dissertation in the Field of Environment" competition with his dissertation titled "Analysis of Geographical Factors Affecting Post-Fire Vegetation Regeneration in the Mediterranean Region Using Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence Methods."

Organized by the Environment Foundation, the award recognized Dr. Öztürk’s research for its scientific approach to restoring ecological balance after environmental degradation, its use of advanced technological methods, and its contribution to sustainability.
The dissertation, supervised by Prof. Dr. Mücahit Coşkun from the Department of Geography, has been acknowledged as a significant academic contribution to the fields of environmental science and post-disaster ecosystem analysis.
As part of the award, five Antep pistachio saplings were planted in Kilis in honor of Dr. Ahmet Öztürk. We congratulate Dr. Ahmet Öztürk and Prof. Dr. Mücahit Coşkun and wish them continued success in their academic careers.
