Department of Philosophy

Our department was established in 2011. The department started admitting students in 2013-2014 and currently has approximately 250 students. The Department of Philosophy has a staff of 1 professor, 3 doctoral faculty members and 2 research assistants. Undergraduate students are given courses on History of Philosophy, Systematic Philosophy and Logic, History of Turkish-Islamic Thought and History of Science.

 

All lecturers of the department concentrate on the fields of all branches and make their publications. The department is also expanding towards the postgraduate level. Since 2018, master education has been given in the interdisciplinary Ethical Values department. With this program, it is aimed to train outstanding young academics and to increase the international recognition of philosophy in Turkey. It is a program that examines national and international cultural accumulation within the framework of interdisciplinary cooperation, evaluates it with a critical attitude, interprets the results from a philosophical perspective, shares them with the society, and educates students who are sensitive to world problems. Therefore, our department is not only a place to learn philosophy, but also a place to practice philosophy.
