HALID ZİYA'S CORPUS IS BEING RECONSIDERED

The works of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil, one of the important names of Turkish literature, are being revealed by remaining faithful to the original with the project led by Karabük University members.

Stating that after the end of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil's copyrights, the increasing studies on his works generally exhibit a structure that is distanced from the original by being expressed as ‘today's Turkish’, Karabük University, Faculty of Literature, Turkish Language and Literature department head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Atay states that it has become a necessity to reveal the works of such an important figure by considering academic sensitivities and that he has started to work.

The complete works of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil, of which only one work has been edited so far, have not been published as a corpus by any publishing house. Within the scope of the project initiated by the faculty members and students of Turkish Language and Literature of our faculty, the work of preparing the works of the artist published so far under the roof of a single publishing house in accordance with the original and bringing his unpublished works to the public has been initiated. In this context, eight novels of the artist, which constitute the first stage of the project, were prepared and brought together with readers and researchers. Another important feature of the works, all of which were prepared through edition criticism, is that they are based on the first editions.
