The Social Activity Day, organized every Wednesday by the Faculty of Letters at Karabük University, once again brought together academics, students, and guests for an important presentation this week.

This week's event featured a presentation titled "What is Environmentalism? A Sociological Perspective," delivered by Dr. Özkan ÖZTÜRK, Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Letters, Karabük University. Participants gained valuable insights into the sociological foundations of environmentalism, different environmental approaches, and their impacts on social dynamics.

In his presentation, Dr. Özkan ÖZTÜRK explored ecocentrism, anthropocentrism, and technocentrism, along with holistic and reductionist perspectives on environmentalism. The discussion encompassed various conceptions of environmentalism, the relationship between humans and nature, and the role of sustainable development. Additionally, the relationship between different social strata and environmentalism was examined in depth.

During the Q&A session, attendees had the opportunity to gain deeper insights into environmental issues. The discussion also addressed environmental awareness and pollution in Karabük, focusing on the extent of environmental problems, the ecological impact of industrialization, and potential solutions for increasing environmental consciousness in the region.
