The Social Activity Day, organized every Wednesday by the Faculty of Letters at Karabük University, once again brought together academics, students, and guests for an insightful seminar this week.
This week’s event featured a seminar titled “The First Translations of the Qur’an into Turkish”, presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek BOLTABAYEV, Faculty Member at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters, Karabük University. Participants had the opportunity to gain academic and scientific insights into the process of translating the Qur’an into Turkish, its historical background, and the impact of translation traditions on Turkish language and culture.
In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek BOLTABAYEV discussed the earliest Turkish translations of the Qur’an from the Karakhanid, Khwarezm, and Golden Horde periods. He also examined the development of Qur’anic translation processes in the Ottoman era and the modern Turkish world, as well as the influence of these translations on language, culture, and religious understanding.
Following the presentation, a Q&A session was held, where participants asked questions and gained deeper insights into the historical evolution of Qur’anic translations and the linguistic features of translated texts.
At the end of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Letters, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek BOLTABAYEV with a certificate of appreciation for his valuable contributions.
