Organized by the Faculty of Letters at Karabük University, the "From Past to Future: Career Panel on Archaeology and Art History" was held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Şehit Fırat Yılmaz Çakıroğlu Conference Hall. The event aimed to support archaeology and art history students in planning their post-graduation careers, raise awareness about professional opportunities, and provide a platform for interaction with experts from the field.



The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin, Dean of the Faculty of Letters. In his address, he emphasized the importance of such gatherings in helping students apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings, and reaffirmed the faculty’s student-centered and career-supportive approach.

The panel was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bülent Oral. Throughout the session, professionals from academia, public institutions, and museums shared their insights and experiences on various career paths in the fields of archaeology and art history.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Çelikbaş delivered a presentation titled "Becoming an Archaeologist: Career Steps from Academia to Fieldwork", focusing on the transition from academic training to practical fieldwork. Prof. Dr. Anar Azizsoy discussed specialization and career opportunities in art history. Erdal Acar, Director of the Safranbolu Museum, provided an overview of working as a specialist in museum institutions. Sinan Ekinci, an expert archaeologist from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, shared his experience of working in the public sector. Ertuğrul Özsoy, an expert art historian at the Karabük Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, gave a presentation on the role of art historians in heritage preservation, including practical examples from the field.
Following the presentations, a question-and-answer session allowed students to directly engage with the panelists. The interactive format created a dynamic and informative environment for career-oriented discussions.
At the end of the event, Dean Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin presented certificates of appreciation to all guest speakers..


The panel attracted great interest and contributed significantly to students’ understanding of the professional landscape awaiting them after graduation. The Faculty of Letters remains committed to organizing such career-focused events for the benefit of its students and graduates.
